Company RésuméGradex, Inc. was founded thirty years ago by Thomas E. Dapp, President, to concentrate on excavation and related work. He did this after having spent eight years with Ryan Incorporated, doing the same type of work. Gradex, Inc. has performed work as a prime contractor and/or subcontractor in the states of Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Colorado, and Michigan. Our scope of work has included demolition, clearing and grubbing, snow removal, excavation, grading, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water line installation, riprap placement, gabion construction, concrete drainage structures, miscellaneous concrete work, and bridges, as well as aggregate and coal stripping, both for our own mines and for others. Our projects have included residential, commercial, and industrial site development, streets and roads, dams, bridges, mines, dikes, airports, sewage treatment plants, railroads and drainage projects. We have been employed on projects up to $2.3 billion in size. Our current earthmoving spread of equipment includes 62 scrapers, 49 dozers, 37 excavators, 30 endloaders, and 90 pieces of related equipment. We supplement our own equipment with leased or rented equipment as the need develops. Thomas E. Dapp, President, holds both a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and an MBA. We have in-house engineering capabilities and our sewer and earthwork crews pride themselves on state-of-the-art laser usage. In 1998, Gradex was honored to receive the Blue Chip Business Award for outstanding accomplishments, and last year Tom Dapp was selected by the Indiana Constructors as Contractor of the Year. We were the only local Indiana contractor pre-selected to bid on the site work for the fast- tracked Subaru-Isuzu $500 million development at Lafayette and the $300 million Nucor steel plant at Crawfordsville. In addition, we were recently selected as one of five national contractors qualified to submit bids on the site work for the Toyota truck plant near Evansville, in which the scope of work included moving 1.3 million cubic yards of earth in less than three months. We have a $10,000,000 liability policy in force as a result of our large volume of work at the Indianapolis International Airport. Two past projects which may give potential clients an idea of our ability were the development of the Chrysler Transaxle Plant at Richmond, Indiana, where we moved 25,000 cubic yards of earth, per day, during the winter months of November and December; and a number of successive weeks of 35,000 cubic yard days in March and April at our 3,000,000 cubic yard project at US 31 and US 24. We are proud of our experience and our history and would welcome a check with any of our previous clients. |
